About us

The mission of Aboriginal Help Center is to provide a safe, supportive, temporary alternative to home for the aboriginal First Nation people with their children.

Aboriginal Help Center assists First nation people – those who ask for asylum. We help whole families with children as well as homeless aboriginal orphans.

Aboriginal children have access to valuable cultural resources but often suffer due to poverty, community isolation, lack of social services infrastructure and higher living costs. When an investigation is triggered, First Nations children are five times more likely to be investigated and 12 times more likely to be placed in foster care than non-First Nations children.

Aboriginal Help Center serves this group of very vulnerable aboriginal people.
We welcome all First nation families. We strive to make our foster homes a place where the love is felt and experienced and where peoples’ dignity and hope are restored.

At Aboriginal Help Center, staff and volunteers foster a supportive community dedicated to meeting all their basic needs.

Volunteer

Would you like to try volunteering opportunity that makes a difference?

There are many ways you can get involved with the work of Protego Foster Homes, from preparing a meal once-a-week to helping at daily routine tasks.
Our volunteers shop for groceries, sort donations, escort residents to appointments, maintain our houses, and act as translators. Occasionally we have projects, like home renovations or preparing a mailing, that require extra teams of helpers.
Often the most important role of our volunteers is to simply befriend a foster visitor or a refugee and provide an invaluable personal connection.
This is your opportunity to come and tour our shelter, hear details of our work and learn about volunteer opportunities first hand.
Volunteers have always played a strong and important role in the service we provide to children, youth and families.

All of these roles make a difference. Join us to bring hope to those who are in need.
To volunteer, please complete and submit the application form.
